Brown Announces State Funding for Water, Sewer Improvements in Lawrence County

January 21, 2026

LAWRENCE COUNTY - Rep. Marla Brown (R-Lawrence) announced today $300,000 in state funding has been approved for water and sewer projects across Lawrence County through the Pennsylvania Small Water and Sewer Program.

“These projects focus on fixing problems before they become emergencies,” said Brown. “This funding will help local municipalities modernize aging systems, reduce the risk of backups and flooding, and make sure residents have reliable service without placing the full cost on local taxpayers.”

The following projects received funding:

Lawrence Hickory Municipal Authority:
$100,000
to upgrade the Cameron Road sewage pump station in Hickory Township. The project will replace outdated equipment to improve efficiency and reduce electrical costs.
North Beaver Township Municipal Authority:
$100,000
to purchase and install new grinder pumps throughout the service area. Replacing pumps that are more than 20 years old will help prevent wastewater backups and protect treatment facilities.
Wilmington Township:
$100,000
to install new storm sewer lines along Eden Dale Road. The project will replace a failing private drainage system and reduce flooding risks by constructing a publicly owned stormwater system.

The Pennsylvania Small Water and Sewer Program awards grants to municipalities and municipal authorities for water, sewer, storm water and flood control projects with a cost of not less than $30,000 and not more than $500,000. Funds may be used toward construction, improvement, expansion or rehabilitation or repair of a water supply system, sanitary sewer system, storm sewer system or flood control projects.

The grants were approved by the Commonwealth Financing Authority, which administers both the Pennsylvania Small Water and Sewer Program and the Multimodal Transportation Fund to support infrastructure, recreation and community development projects across Pennsylvania.
