Brown Announces Funding for New Castle Public Library Renovations

March 14, 2025

HARRISBURG - Rep. Marla Brown (R-Lawrence) announced today New Castle Public Library has been awarded $405,000 through the Pennsylvania Department of Education and the Keystone Recreation, Park and Conservation Fund. The funding will be used to replace the failing heating and air conditioning system with energy-efficient components to improve the library's energy performance.

“Public libraries are the heart of our communities, and I’m pleased to see New Castle Public Library receive this much-needed funding,” said Brown. “This investment will not only make the library more energy efficient but will also ensure it continues to serve as a critical resource for all Lawrence County residents. Libraries provide much more than just books; they are vital hubs for learning, connection, and support for individuals of all ages and backgrounds.”

This portion of the Keystone Recreation, Park and Conservation Fund, established by the General Assembly in 1993, is administered by the Department of Education’s Office of Commonwealth Libraries. The fund supports up to 50% of eligible costs for planning, construction, and rehabilitation projects at public libraries, such as energy efficiency upgrades, ADA improvements, and facility expansions.
